I wonder if someone here can verify if this rattle is normal?, I have removed all clutch plates , in neutral when I rotate and wiggle the clutch basket there is a rattling noise. link of 30 second video here , help much appreciated!

Is the basket loose on the shaft as it’s splined internally
If it’s tight then the play is on the other end in the gearbox. Been a long time since I’ve had mine in bits regarding clutch so can’t remember how much play there should be

With clutch basket removed, seems to be the crankcase bearing, it feels smooth though. bike has 43,000 miles

Looking at the parts diagram that’s the output shaft with the sprocket on the other end. Is there any play across that shaft
Any lateral movement horizontal or vertical?
I believe what you’re hearing is the free play in the gearbox. It’s the clunk when you drop it in gear.
When the clutch packs installed it locks up that play. There’s got to be some movement to be able to allow the gearbox syncs to mesh on gear change
I may be well off the mark here and stand to be corrected
